Weekly Photo Challenge: Wanderlust

IMG_2016.JPG

On a recent trip to New York City I visited the Rockefeller Center Observation Deck.  From there you can see most of Manhattan.  It’s a pretty incredible view.

Weekly Photo Challenge H2O: Fog Lifting

photograph by Doug Couvillion of the San Francisco Bay Bridge with fog above it

This is my submission for the Weekly Photo Challenge: H2O.

The Golden Gate Bridge partially conceals itself as fog lifts from the San Francisco Bay.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Vivid

Traditions De France

photograph of Traditions De France store in Old Town Alexandria, VA

During the walking part of my commute through Old Town Alexandria I kept my eyes open for vivid images.  Normally I walk on the same side of the street as Traditions De France so I pass right by without really seeing it.  Viewed from across the street it really does make for a vivid image.

Rusty Piling In The James River

photograph of a rusted piling in the James River near Richmond, VA

This rusty piling seems out of place among the old wooden posts.

GlobeHopper

photograph of the GlobeHopper coffee shop in Richmond, VA

There’s a lot of character in the building housing the GlobeHopper coffee shop: stained glass, murals, and even a little neon light.

Old Decking

photograph of old muddy decking with large nails

This was wooden decking may have been part of a boat, long ago.  Now it sits, slowly decaying along the shore of the river.

Glimpse At The Impermanence Of A Trailer

photograph of a bolt surrounded by rust

I like the color, the texture and the irony of this photo.  The irony that the bolt, which helps hold the trailer together, required a hole to be drilled through the metal, which is ultimately causing it to fall apart.

If you click on the image you can see a larger version of it, which really highlights the texture.
