Osprey In Flight

This is the same Osprey I photographed and featured on the blog a few months ago under the title “Osprey Hovering In Flight“.  It was much closer when I took this picture, revealing much more detail.  Please click the image to see a larger version of it.

Osprey’s are one of many fishing birds that will hover in mid-air when they see a potential meal.  To stop themselves they push their wings forward which creates the dramatic shape displayed here.

Pine At The Top Of The Hill

This pine stands alone near the top of a hill, in a meadow at Shenandoah National Park.

 

Circuit of The Americas Tower

The tower at the Circuit Of The Americas track in Austin, Texas stands 251 feet above the race track.  I didn’t go up the tower but it was pretty impressive to look at from the ground.

Lamar Valley

Puffy white clouds fill the sky over the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone National Park.

Clouds Over the Vineyard

Dark clouds swept across the sky as I searched for photographic subjects in this vineyard.  I blended two differently exposed photos of the scene to create this HDR version of the image.
